Travel Lows and Woes: The Closing Gangplank
Let me start the "climb" by qouting Vincent Balagot, one of PALMC's (Philippine Airlines Mountaineeting Club) member who scaled the summit a couple of years back............."Picture this: You hike on a ridge trail up on the mountains of Sibuyan, suddenly, you're face to face to a 50 foot high near vertical rock wall. Do you: a) turn back and call it quits b) tremble in fear yet still decide to scale the rock face with no ropes, no climbing equipment but your boots and bare hands c) wish for wings to grown on your back. Well, this was what four PALMCers encountered on the mountain called Guiting-Guiting"..-- a three day climb to the toughest land formation in the Philippines.

Take nothing but Pictures...Leave nothing but Footprints....Kill nothing but Time.....
If my memory serves me right, I've been to Sibuyan Island before when I was still young, attending the burial of my grandfather, Lolo Manka Fabreo, in Magdiwang town. I was nine years old then. That was my first and last visit to Romblon's.
second biggest island. I had no idea then that the majestic Mt. Guiting Guiting is just looming behind my Lolo Manka's little town of Magdiwang. Had I known it before that nobody attempted to scale the summit, siguro kahit papano ay sinubukan ko. Just kiddin.'
Anyhow, to guide you 'climbers' of what's really the inside story of G2, a professional climber and member of the Metropolitan Mountaineering Society, Mr. Long Henson, had given us the permission to mirror his vast experience and at the same time guide you to the island of Sibuyan.
