Sta Maria - "Romance takes place in the hearts of Romblomanons in Santa Maria. The graveled beaches and the waterfalls provide a picturesque image of romance in the early years.
MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
BEL-AT POINT – Over-looking Tablas Strait, it is a nice place for scuba diving.
SANTA MARIA BEACH – A graveled beach good for people with arthritis, walking barefooted acupressure free.
TUBURAN – A fall with fast running water pouring down through fine rocks during rainy season.
PINAY FALLS – Could be reached after a five-kilometer hike. A nice place for picnic or excursion and has a clear water good for bathing. A romantic place for lovers.
ECONOMIC PROFILE
Majority of the inhabitants derive their livelihood through farming and fishing. The main products are copra, cattle, hogs, mats, baskets, and dried/salted fish. Supply of raw materials for handicrafts such as vines and bamboo is abundant.

PLANE TRIP FROM MANILA-TABLAS AIRPORT
Located in the eastern coast of Tablas, this hilly coastal town is a 30 minute drive from the Tugdan provincial airport after an hour travel from Manila airport. Travel time from Manila to Tablas is less than an hour. Effective February 2nd 2004, Flight DG605 of South East Asian Airlines will depart Manila Domestic Airport at exactly 1045 and ETA is 1145 in Tugdan airport in Alcantara, Tablas Island. The plane Flight DG606 flies back to Manila at exactly 1205 and ETA is 1305 in Manila Domestic Airport in Pasay City, in the afternoon of the same day. MANILA-ODIONGAN
For those who take the leisurely 10-hour sea trip of MV Virgin Mary of MBRS Lines from Manila's Pier 8 to Odiongan port, which regulary departs every Monday and Friday at 5:00 PM, a 2 hour jeepney ride through lush farmland brings you to Santa Maria.
Or take the Mary the Queen also of MBRS Lines at Pier 8 Manila, which departs every Wednesday at 5:00 PM. 10 hour travel will take you directly to the port of Odiongan.
BATANGAS-ODIONGAN
Take Montenegro Lines every Sunday and Tuesday at 5:00 PM. Or take Princess Colleen every Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 5:00 PM. An 8 hours travel will take you directly to the port of Odiongan. a Public Utility Jeep station in the Harbor terminal will bring you to Santa Maria for 2 hour drive.
BATANGAS-SAN AGUSTIN
Take Camille which departs Batangas every Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 5:00 PM. A 10 hour travel will take you directly to the port of San Agustin. From the port of san Agustin, an hour drive of Public Utility Vehicle will bring you to the town of Sta. Maria.

The municipality of Sta. Maria, or Imelda as it was formerly called, was created by virtue of Batas Pambansa Bilang 234 and inaugurated on December 8, 1983 with three Barangays; Bonga, Concepcion Norte and Concepcion Sur. Three additional Barangay San Isidro, Paroyhog Sto. Nino. It was in 1986, that the leadership adopted a resolution changing the name of the municipality from Imelda to Sta. Maria in honor of Our Lady of the Immaculate Concepcion, the Patron Saint of the Municipality.
Situated east of Tablas Island, Sta. Maria faces the vast Sibuyan Sea. It is bounded in the North by the Municipality of San Agustin, in the South by the municipality of Alcantara, in the west by the Municipality of Odiongan and in the east by Romblon Pass. It is considered one of the most peaceful areas in the province.
Sta. Maria has a total land area of 48.0 sq. km. It is generally mountainous with a limited portion of the plain area along the coast.
